Deal and Betteshanger (11) v (10) Dover

Played 13/01/2008

Lady luck dealt Dover U17 a cruel hand in a fiercely contested game at Deal on Sunday. Dover took the first points with a well worked try from centre Dale Mercer. Two sin bin incidents in the first half upset Dovers momentum and left them short handed for twenty minutes, then from a penalty in the 22metre area Deal levelled the score with an unconverted Try a further penalty stretched thier lead to 8-5 untill again Mercer found space to go 10 -8 up. The Dover Defence then had to soak up a fierce deal onslaught and found it difficult to get any clean ball to release the backs, the boot of Premnath was instrumental in relieving the pressure. The last Kick of the game, the result of an offside Decision against Dover on the halfway line saw a well struck penalty sail over to seal Dovers fate. This was again a demonstration of how much Dovers Game has improved but also highlighted how lack of attention to detail and indiscipline can cost dearly.
