Dover U17 played host Folkestone on Sunday in a pre league friendly
which saw Folkestone comfortable 44-8 winners. A ferocious first period
saw Dover winning good ball from contact but Folkestone's defensive
setup thwarted Dovers backs time and time again and they were duly
pushed back into their own half, eventually the gaps started to show
up as Folkestone started the scoreboard ticking. Dover's points was
scored by Dale Mercer with an un-converted try and a penalty kick in
the second period. Just reward for a stirling effort from the team.
Notable efforts also came from debutantes Ali Ali and Jason Sterrow,
both players showing enormous potential as part of the Dover set up.
Important lessons have been learnt from this game and should be corrected
for their first league match this Sunday when they visit South London
Club Charlton Park.
