On sunday 27th Dover's u16's travelled the short distance to Folkestone
for their 3rd game in 7 days. Despite missing a number of players Dover
started the game full of enthusiasm but were met with fierce resistance
from a determined folkestone side who looked a far cry from the one
despatched 55-0 at Crabble at the start of the season. Dover looked
very out of sorts for this game and struggled to string together phases
of play for large periods. The Fact they had played a gruelling game
only 3 days before did nothing to help their cause. There were a number
of positives however, notably the contributions of Chris Yarrow, Ben
Hewer and Sam wheeler who stood out in what was otherwise a very ordinary
Dover performance by the standards the boys set themselves. The only
score of the game came ten minutes from the final whistle after centre
Ross Keane did well to finish off a rare flowing dover attack. Despite
the performance credit must be given to the squad who stuck to their
task well to grind out a 5-0 win.
Team: Hubbard, Stott, Bradbury, Annakie x2, Merrit, Rix, Coughlan,
Beresford, Phillips, Wheeler, Norris, Foggarty, Clarke, Capon. Subs:
Yarrow, Ward, Ross, Hewer.
