Dover Under 15s have been working hard over the past few weeks through wind, ice and torrential rain to improve not only their rugby skills but also their attitude and discipline. The results of the hard work put in by the boys and their coaches James Cattermole and Mo Kamara was spectacularly on show this weekend as the team put in their best performance so far.
Coaches and parents were delighted to watch an excellent game of rugby where all players put in 100% effort and gained the result to match.
Sheppey hosted this East Kent Plate Final and Dover arrived early to put in an hours warm up before the match. The first 10 minutes saw Dover immediately dominating the Whitstable half and an early try by Conan Osborne, converted by George Moore set the mood for the day.
But Dover let their guard down and allowed Whitstable to come back 5 minutes later with a return try making the score 7-5.
Dover then put their training into use and began to ruck-over securing more of the ball – an area that they have been working on a great deal. They started to steal Whitstable line outs and would have scored more points if silly mistakes had not given away unwanted penalties.
Dover’s performance improved throughout the match with further tries from Sam Stevens, Sam Webb, George Moore, Lawrence Cox and Dylan Woods. 3 more of these were converted by George Moore.
The whole team were awarded man of the match by the coach and it was fizzy orange all round in the clubhouse afterwards.
Dover’s next match is on 13th January against Ashford.
The Team. Woods, McMenamin, Piddlesden, Blackman, Milroy, Webb, Cox, Osborne, Sadler, Moore, Jagger, Mills, Osmond, Burrows, Stevens, Griffin, Clark.
