A bitingly cold wind greeted the Dover U13s and their intrepid supporters
at Folkestone for their East Kent Plate semi-final fixture. From the
whistle the Stones looked the sharper side, regularly moving the ball
out wide their backs going over to score the first try of the match.
The Sharks made a number forays into the opposition’s territory
but were unable to come away with points. The home side scored a further
three unanswered trys before the half time.
By the second half Dover had thawed out and looked more positive, their
forwards dominating the Stones for much of the half managed to score
their only try. Folkestone’s backs were impressive and good passing
skills enabled them to find gaps in the Shark’s defence to register
a further two trys before the final whistle.
A number of learning points for the young Shark’s came out of
the contest – these will be used over their next training sessions.
