Dover's ever developing 3rd XV put Sittingbourne to the sword at the
weekend, a bit of an upset it seemed for the home team.
At first things seemed to be a little bit awry, with the injury of Meredith L in the first minutes and Stevenson missing a penalty that would have put Dover 3 points up. However, with a fine production of old reliable Price in kicking with fine accuracy led Dover into the 'Bourne 22, and with a stolen lineout that produced yet another try for young Cooper, which gave Stevenson the chance for redemption leaving Dover at 7 points up, which stayed the same until half time.
With a few changes and mixing and matching taking place in the pack, Dover looked in danger shortly after the restart with a ferocious attack by 'Bourne, which was halted by incredible tackling and grit on the Dover 5m, noticeably from Mcadam, Meredith D and Mcpherson.
'Bournes lack of discipline allowed Dover to simply stroll up the pitch and allow for Stevenson to convert a penalty just in front of the posts.
Unfortunately, the largest man on the pitch who was the 'Bourne prop then powered over to pressure Dover at 10 – 7.
However, with inspiring dump tackles from Mcpherson, jinking runs from Burr D and Gaughran, Dover pulled it together with some fine displays of rucking for Stevenson to run in the final try of the game and convert it leaving a devestated Sittingbourne in Dover's wake at full time.
Man of the match was awarded to Aaron Cooper.
