Dover 2nd XV (39) v (20) Whitstable 2nd XV
Played on 09/02/2008

With the top two teams in the league clashing a tight game was expected by all but in reality Dover showed their class in all departments and run out comfortable winners. From the moment Marsh finished off Dover's first real attack by touching down in the corner and then converting the result never looked in doubt. A second try quickly followed for the opportunist May who dived on a fumbled ball over the Whitstable try line. Unfortunately a Whitstable winger received a broken arm in the process and a 15 delay followed before the game was re-started on a different pitch. With a steady platform being set by the hard working forwards and the backs pace proving too hot to handle 5 more tries were scored out wide. One each for Charge & D. Burr and an impressive hat-trick for the fast improving Coughlan. In-between Whitstable had scored 2 good tries of their own and if one was to be churlish about Dover's performance their let some of the opposition get under their skins which resulted in Whitstable being awarded a highly dubious penalty try late on. With 3 league games to go Dover are closing in on the title but will need to keep their concentration as any slip ups could still prove costly.
