Whitstable 2nd XV (3) v (6) Dover 2nd XV
Played 15/12/2007
Dover entered this cup match with a 33 point advantage from the
first leg, and were determined to leave as victors once more. After
a bright
start, Dover finished a 30 yard rolling maul with Jim Chambers crashing
over the line for a good try, however, for reasons unknown it was
disallowed which left even the home players bemused but breathing
a sigh of relief. Whitstable pulled up their socks and fought their
way back into contention - helped along by a series of silly penalties
from Dover - and they went in at half time with a 3 point lead. Dover
were unable to find their usual fine form but a dogged performance
from all was rewarded with 2 penalties, bagged by the boot of Marsh.
At the final whistle after a hard fought contest Dover were content
to have come out on top again.
