Hoping to build on last years success a young Dover Seconds travelled
to Medway full of confidence. After a bright start with Dover forwards
taking the game to their opposite numbers Dover were awarded a penalty
which Blair Charge comfortably sloted. This was followed quickly by
a try in the left corner by Richard Williamson who out paced the defence
following a flowing passing movement down the blindside.
Unfortunately Dover took this as a sign to relax and mixed with early
season rustiness and a good home defence Medway draged themselves back
into the game with two penalties.
The start of the second half continued in the same vein with a host
of chances being squandered before James Catermole picked up after
a 30 metre rolling maul and smashed though 3 tackles to score and make
the game safe. With Dover starting to dominate a home player suffered
a serious injury and the match ended with 15 minutes still on the clock.
A special mention goes to Mo Kamara who put in a man of the match performance
full of qualiity from fullback. Overall Dover were left with a feeling
of missed opportunities but there is a steady base for improvement
over the coming weeks.
