Dover Ladies traveled to Tonbridge Juddian (TJ's) on Sunday for only their
second game. Depleted numbers for the TJ's meant that the match was played
with 12 a side and later 11 a side due to injuries!
TJ's opened the scoring with a break away try from the scrum half, which she repeated 5 minutes later to go 10 - 0 up. Dover soon came back though after a pick and go from the no. 8 who then released Gordon to run 30m and touch down.
In the second half Dover tightened up the forwards game which created acres
of space for the backs and some good offloading saw Ghost break through
and sprint from the halfway line to score under the posts.
Dover continued to utilize the space and feed the backs, and a neat delayed
pass allowed Parry to show her pace and hurtle down the touchline and
score in the corner.TJ's forwards just kept coming and after several
phases of
play the no. 9 ran in her hat-trick to take the score to 17 - 15. Dover
however were the better tacticians and continued to put their backs
into space and
Coles was the next to crash over the line, closely followed by the
speedster Reeny.
TJ's applied the last pressure of the game and had Dover on the ropes
with minutes to go. Excellent defence saw two tries held up and the
ball was finally
cleared, giving Dover their first win 27 - 15.
