After 6 weeks without competitive rugby a match rusty U15 squad took to the field at Folkestone on Sunday morning. It was a bitterly cold morning and from the start Dover were under the cosh when ball was hooked forward from the kick off. This gave Folkestone the upper hand and soon after put in the first score, this was followed immediately with a second. Dover by now had regained a certain amount of composure and began to fight back, however failure to do basic things well allowed Folkestone to have possession far too often and so stretched their lead.
After 20 minutes the game became a more even affair and Dover pulled back one score just before the interval. The game ended 34 -17 due to Dover's poor start and Folkestone's superioity at the fringes proved Dover's undoing.Food for thought for the next training session. Dover's scorers were Ollie Roberts , 2 trys, Luke McNicholas 1 try and Felix King converted 1. Recognition must be given to fullback Adam O'Bree for exceptional last man tackling, and his improved confidence on the ball. Also debutant Jake McDonald who also made his mark on the team showing strength beyond his size in the contact area..
Dover take on Maidstone at Crabble this Sunday, 11 o'clock KO, the coaching team look forward to a large squad for selection.
