Just 14 players of Dovers U15 Squad were able to take to the field at Canterbury
for the East kent cup semi final on sunday and subsequently lost heavily
to the well drilled hosts.
This defeat will be a blow for the team who have come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of months. The first half was where the brunt of the damage was done with Canterburys strong runners proving to much for the lighter Dover players and they ammassed a 38 point lead. How ever Dover refused to lay down and opened the scoring in the second half with a try from Samuel Akintokun his first for the club, and who had also made good ground for the sharks throughout the game.
Skipper
Ashley Holyer also made the scoresheet with Felix King converting one,
ending the second half a much more respectable 22-12. Unfortunately
fullback Joe Freeman picked up a shoulder injury and needed to leave the field
adding to Dovers woes. Over all there were many positives to to bring back
from
a game where players were playing unfamiliar roles and above all outstanding
performances from Flanker Jack Martin and Winger Michael Neylon.
The team would like to see thier School colleagues (year 10) at training
at Crabble on wednesday from 6.30
