A much Improved Dover U15 entertained Vigo at Crabble on Sunday morning.
During the warm up Dover looked lethargic and lack lustre, However from the
kick off they proved that they were up for this game as they pressured Vigo.
the visitors probably had the edge with ball handling skills in the backs
but DoversTackling and defence was much improved upon since thier last outing
and held of vigo until after 15 minutes vigo sent through a well weighted
grubber kick and thier chaser touched down to score an unconverted try. Dovers
reply came ten minutes later during a spell of scrappy play when Jack martin
kicked through a loose ball and chased it down to level the score.
Samuel Akintokun put in a huge run to pressure vigo minutes before half time
but was bundled into touch inches from the tryline.
The second half had dover under the cosh at times with superior kicking
from Vigo who used the slope advantage well but Dovers boys slowly
edged uphilluntil
Kye Lott found space, ran into trouble but had the forsight to unload
to Michael Neylon who coverd the last few meters in style to put Dover
in Front.
Next came a valuable lesson for Dover as they turned thier backs on
Vigo who pinned them on thier own 5 metre line from a quickly taken
restart.
Vigo did level the score eventually to 10-10, perhaps the right result
between
the two teams.
Notable efforts from new member Nathan Grant in his first game at
No8, Jack Spicer who stepped in as a creditable scrum half and
all the physically
smaller
players who really showed thier mettle in the contact area.
Training continues Wednesday evening at Crabble and anyone wishing
to play for Dovershould turn up at 6.30 or contact Paddy McAdam
