Dover U14s (22) v (17) Whitstable U14s
Played on 2/11/2008

This was a second successive away win for fourteen-man Dover and will boost self belief in the squad. Dover started well, all of the play in the midfield until a fifth minute forward break and pass by Johnstone allowed Gibbs to touch down. Five minutes later another Johnstone break; Rigden scored for 0-12. Dover appeared to be cruising but conceded too many penalties halting their momentum. Poor tackling and loss of concentration allowed Whits to score twice and level 12-12. A now ragged Dover were gald to be rescued by the half time whistle.

Second half, a buoyed up home side continued their surge, scoring within 5 minutes, 17-12. With ten minutes remaining Dover finally threantened the try line and Johnstone forced the ball over for 17-17. Gibbs, now settled in his full-back role, scored his second try with a determined solo run. Dover defended bravely to hold on for the win. Man of the match was Sam Gibbs, but the boys must learn to focus for every minute and minimise the penalty count for future success.
