Dover travelled to Whitstable with a squad of 18 and a couple of key players missing. The first tackle of the game took out flyhalf Allen with injury allowing Whitstable to break away scoring under the posts, converted 7-0 up. A complete re-organisation by coaches with MOORE to flyhalf (Excellent performance), SHIELDS to Scrum half and GRANT into fullback. Now with many in unfamiliar territory the coaches couldn’t have asked for more from their players. SANDERS went out with an injury to the knee, GLEW to Prop,

Josh on the Break

MURDOCH moved to flanker, RUSSELL from Flanker to second row. Shortly afterwards MCMUNN again putting his body in the way limped off in trouble. MURDOCH switched back to the wing leaving 7 in the pack and only 14 on the field.
The lads showed true grit and determination in difficult circumstances but the Whitstable lads with many numbers showed that on the day they were the better team. In the dying minute of the game Dover very nearly went over the try line but were just held back.

Plus points for the day came by way of new signing Joe DENNIS who was immense in the centres both in attack and defence. GRANT too was strong in defence make important try saving tackles. Captain COOPER had a superb game, his first in this role of responsibility and one in which he proved capable of raising his game.
