Dover under 12's entered a squad of 17 players into the East Kent Festival at Canterbury. The whole squad were confident from the start, they trained and played rugby with a maturity and determination beyond there 12 years of age. In the group matches Dover beat Thanet 25 - 0; Sheppey 15 - 0; Whitstable 25 - 0 and were then unlucky to draw with Canterbury 0 - 0 after having several tries being disallowed and being camped on Canterburys try line for much of the game. Dover went through to the final as clear winners of their group and played Ashford in the final eventually winning 5 - 0 via a try by Callum Smith.
Dovers efforts and skill through out the tournament were excellent. In the scrums Kallum Reed, Ben Sturman, Tom Castle and Harry Yarnell were very strong pushing the opposition off the ball. Determined rucking / mauling and driving with the ball came from Alex Moore and Dan Westbrook who have added real mobility to the forwards. The ball was distributed and controlled by Jack Ricketts and Will Womble who allowed the backs to have quality ball to run in many tries. Tries were scored by Callum Smith, Cian O'Hanlon, Dan Eades, Tom Duncan, Harry Sayers, Harry Yarnell, Ben Norris and Jack Ricketts. Ryan Matthews showed confidence to catch numerous high balls and make safe and in defence Ed Rhodes and Stewart Lyndsey took many tackles on the wings. Through out the whole tournament Dover never conceded any tries which is an excellent testament to there team spirit, belief and courage in defence.
