Tonbridge Juddians (77) v (5) Dover
Played 2nd November 2008

Dover Ladies were knocked off their top of the league spot this weekend after a crushing defeat by Tonbridge.

From kick off the home side dominated, running hard and fast at the Crabble girls. Tackles were missed by the Sharks girls and Tonbridge took full advantage. Tries followed regularly in the first half from the home side but Dover kept their heads up and mounted a few counter attacks which unfortunately went unrewarded.

The second half saw more try scoring by TJs although the rate slowed somewhat. Dover's scrum held fast and fly-half Sarah Rowland put in some crunching tackles. Lock Ellen snaffled the ball from out of the home side's hands more than once whilst prop Charlotte Stanley's confidence grew when she took players on and made headway in rucks and mauls. Dover tried to play a kicking game but were just that bit too slow to the ball although errors were forced. One such mistake by Tonbridge allowed Denise Robinson to plough her way towards the line and the ensuing maul saw scrum half Julie Coles sell a dummy and put Dover's only points on the board.

But as the final whistle blew the Sharks Ladies knew there was a lot of work to be done on the training field.

The Ladies next game is against Beccehamians on November 9th at Crabble.

Dover Ladies: Stanley, Walker, Yambo, Smith, Frackleton, Ellen, Robinson, Coles, Rowland, Morlock, Plews, Reene, Tester.
