Dover 4th XV (45) v (10) Thanet Wanderers
Played on 20th December 2008

Dover  fourths maintained their 100% record with a stuttering win over a gutsy young Thanet team. In the opening period Dover played lethargic, unfocussed rugby and were pinned in their own half despite Thanet rarely threatening. Despite this poor start , Dover did manage to move up the pitch to score an opening through a forward drive by Prescott. Thanet replied following more pressure to leave the half time score 7 v 5 to the home team. An interception try early in the second half gave Thanet further success and the lead but this score galvanised the home team into upping their efforts.Better support play by both forwards and backs led to tries from Gaughran, Tanner and Howard. The forward supremacy was also rewarded with Neil Yarnell and Prescott driving over following excellent scrummaging. The fine second half performance orchestrated by Colin Claw  ended on a sour note when inspirational leader Jason Wall was injured (shoulder ligaments) in the last throes of the game. He his excellent line out jumping will be badly missed in the second half of the season with the fourth team looking to maintain their winning form.
