Dover IV XV (41) v (6) Folkestone IV XV
Played on 4th October 2008

Dover 4th unbeaten form in EK3 continued with a fine win of local rivals Folkestone 4th on a windy afternoon at Crabble. Despite the conditions, Dover demonstrated good handling skills and support play to score seven tries.

Dover started with more purpose than in previous weeks and were able to take control of the game early on through a Howard converted try. Folkestone briefly reduced the lead when Dover were penalised for handling on the ground. Thereafter, Dover enjoyed the majority of the possession, but suffered from ‘white line’ fever. Dover’s lead was not extended until the latter part of the half with tries from Prescott, and Scott, who forced his way over from ten yards to score his first try for the club.

The second half saw Dover play a more expansive game with Claw at scrum half bossing the game by keeping Folkestone on the back foot with some darting runs and proving the perfect link between forwards and backs. Winger Kit Walker continued the fine scoring form from last week of brother Richard to run in two tries, the second of which came after gathering a superbly weighted kick from Gaughran. Further scores came from Gaughran and Speakman to round off a good day for Dover against a spirited Folkestone side.
