Brussels Barbarian Ladies (35) v (17) Dover Ladies 1st XV
Dover Ladies travelled to Brussels on March 15th 2008 to play
the Brussels Barbarian Ladies at the Elephant Field, Tervuren.
The BBRFC Ladies have recently been the Belgian Lady Champions
so a tough contest was expected.
The Dover Ladies won the second half 10-0. Frail covering near the set piece
saw them lose the first half 35-7. The final result, as far as the referee
can remember was 35-17. Several storming runs by the Dover Ladies were only
halted just short of the BBRFC
line by a determined defence. All seemed to enjoy the game, and
the touring side was well entertained at the Bok and Dragon Pub
for the final day of the 6 Nations Championship.
The Dover Ladies Platoon in full Army Fatigues were then let loose on an unsuspecting Brussels, ably supported by BBRFC guides and some Gent Lady Members who had been to Crabble some weeks before.
Thanks have to given to the lady organisers, and to Neil the able driver
of the bus. No members of the party got permanently lost, and all returned
safely to Dover on the Sunday afternoon.
