The walk is just another show of teamwork, and is good healthy exercise, which is what Dover RFC promotes and is all about. So if you can walk – get registered, if you feel you can’t do the distance but want to help – register this with the club also.
The sponsorship which is for each member to secure for themselves, will 100% go to the renovation and building fund of Dover RFC. We have great plans for the Club going forward and its inspirational home at Crabble.
The walk will start from Crabble, moving out through the Alkham Valley returning to the finish at Crabble, around journey of approximately six miles.
Although many of us drive through the Alkham Valley on a regular basis
we do not have the time to take in its beauty. This is an ideal opportunity
to appreciate the flora and fauna of this lovely area with its undulating
hills woodland and wildlife.
The walk involves considerable hill work, across woodland and farmland – which
in places can be “difficult”. Natural and uneven trails
which can be treacherous in the wet and dry with roots, stones, undergrowth
and the unpredictable diggings and foraging of the wildlife changing
the path’s quality daily.
This is not intended to be off putting, but to ensure all wear stout
walking shoes, appropriate attire and take a drink – it’s
not like walking round the track. Those taking part do so at their
own risk, and the walk is not suitable for the very young. Those wishing
to take dogs should understand we are crossing farmland, and they should
be kept on a lead throughout the course and remain the sole liability
of the owner and not the club.
Sponsor forms can be downloaded from our web site www.doverrfc.co.uk (In MS word format and pdf format ) and we would urge all those who can to get their sponsors through family, friends and where they work. Before setting off all sponsorship forms will be recorded by the club as an official record of those taking part, where your details will be recorded and the sum you are responsible for collecting will also be recorded.
The plan is for registration to start from 9am and the walk to commence
from around 10am – firm timings will be given when a better idea
of numbers are known.
Can you let us know if you will walk or help on the day.
We do need people from the club to assist in various capacities on
the day, please email rjc @ doverrfc.co.uk if you can be of help in
whatever capacity.
