Dover travelled to Deal & Betteshanger Lions in the knowledge
that this game was winnable but this was not to be as the commitment
of the Lions showed who really wanted to win. From the start Dover
were under pressure, which resulted in an early score for the Lions
and it took some time for Dover to settle down. To often Dover lost
the ball whilst going into contact, to often was the ball turned over
when we had clearly won it. On a positive note Dover’s numbers
were up with Jack Knight, Jack Mackay, Lewis Law and Toby Morris all
playing for the club for the first time. Tyler Morris made a welcome
return after a long layoff. By the end of the match the score line
showed how Dover were unable to capitalize on the scoring opportunities
when they arose, the times when they came near the Lions line they
seamed to freeze and loose that scoring chance.
The “Bambie” award for Man of the match was Jack Knight.
The Dover team was: - Atkin, Barnes, Birrell, Blake, Britnell, Cunningham,
Day, Dight, Hardie, Hindle, Hook, Knight, Law, Mackay, McMenamin, Toby
Morris, Tyler Morris, Premnath, Robinson, Schacht, Webb and Williams.
Next week Dover host Folkestone at Crabble, kick off at 11am.
