After the match Thanet came off knowing that they had been lucky to win by such a margin, and Dover wanting to know, after such a performance, as to what they have to do to win. The dominance of the Dover pack clearly showed how the game should have been played as was for periods of the game. When Thanet won the ball they worked it wide and used their large backs to run at Dover’s defence. This is where they managed to amass their points with Dover having to supplement their back line with 2 forwards due to injuries Thanet were able to create the space to score. Aston Day making a come back after 5 years had a blinding game at full back, Fred Britnell back for the first time this season, Lewis Hook and Lewis Schacht making their debuts for the club, all played well. Dover’s scores came from a penalty in the first half from Tom Dight and tries in the second from Ben Atkin and Richard Walker.
Next week Dover has training at Crabble starting at 10:30
The “Bambie” award for Man of the match was awarded Aston Day.
The Dover team was: - Atkin, Barnes, Birrell, Blake, Britnell, Day, Dight, Hardie, Hindle, Hook, McMenamin, Monger, Schacht, Walker, Webb and Williams.
