Dover U15's travelled to Folkestone on Sunday and recorded a solid win on a
pitch which in horse racing parlence would have been described as 'heavy
going'. The Sharks forwards dominated in all phases but stubborn Folkestone
defence prevented them turning territory into points until man of the match
No.8 Ben Rix broke down the blind side and put winger Dan Norris in for his
first try. Fly half Greg Phillips slotted an excellent conversion to put
the visitors 7-0 up. The try of the match followed when hard work from the
forwards sucked in the home defence and quickly recycled ball was rewarded
with a sublime miss pass by Phillips to put speedy winger Norris in at the
corner. Ben Rix finished off the half on a high note for the Sharks with
a try of his own following good support play. With a completely new back
line for the second half the Sharks forwards continued to dominate and centre
Kris Jones returning from long term injury marked his return to the squad
with a well taken try. Winger Sam Wheeler added another before the forwards
had the final say when second row Nathan Critcher scored under the posts
with Phillips adding the conversion.
