Dover (0) v (53) Maidstone

Dover arrived for their first home game of the new year only to find Maidstone already changed and warmed-up. It transpired that Maidstone required an earlier kick-off than usual to allow some of their supporters to be home in time to watch a crucial U’17’s game.

Dover did their best to accommodate this request but ultimately this meant the boys where slightly under-ready at the kick-off.

Despite this Dover applied good pressure at the outset and only an unfortunate knock on prevented an early try.

It soon became apparent the Maidstone were a big well organized team and Dover were playing most of the game on the back foot.

Unfortunatly Dover also lost their No 8 (Sam Webb) and Hooker (Liam Tanner) to injury throughout the course of the game which meant several players having to play out of position.

Dover did their best to play attacking rugby but were continually overpowered by a physically stronger team which resulted in lots of turnover ball against Dover.

Maidstone continued to apply considerable pressure and despite Dover’s best efforts Maidstone ran out comfortable winners – they were certainly one if not the best team Dover have played to date.
