Ashford U14s (53) V Dover Under 14s (0)
Played 19th November 2006

Following several wins, Dover Sharks under 14s suffered a heavy loss against Ashford Rugby Club. All of the Dover boys put in a magnificent performance but were constantly outrun by a stronger, bigger Ashford team.

Lots of lessons to be learnt about working together as a team and keeping resilience up in adversity – but it was clearly noticeable that the Dover lads have come on leaps and bounds since last season – in fact, so much so that the opposing coach commented to the Dover Coach on how much the team had improved since their last meeting.

The Dover boys had most of the tries scored against them in the first half and at the beginning of the second. The last 20 minutes of the game saw a new spurt of defiance as Dover, now down to 14 men with the loss of Captain Sam Webb through injury, fought back and kept the opposition away from the try line. Well done boys.

Next up – Canterbury in the Kent Cup. Sunday 26th November.
