Crabble on Sunday saw the Under 12s entertain teams from both Medway
and Sheppy as part of a busy season’s fixture schedule.
During the first game against a well-drilled and powerful Medway A
side Dover conceded an early try to some impressive passing and positional
play by the North Kent opponents. Dover rallied briefly but again Medway
dominated, scoring two more trys both of which were converted taking
them into half-time 21 points to nil up. The second half saw a more
impressive performance from the young Sharks with several positive
forays towards the Medway try line but the opponents defence held up.
Two more converted breakaway trys from Medway and the final score ended
with a 35 to nil defeat for the home side.
The Dover Team coach’s post match talk prior to their second game against Sheppy had significant impact on the youngsters who looked like a completely different side. Positive from the first whistle the forwards soon applied pressure on the Sheppy defence to punch a way through to score a converted try. Sheppy quickly countered with a well-worked run from their backs to equal the scores at 7 all, but Dover again dominated to score, going in to half time at 14 points to 7 up. In the second period some encouraging set piece play and quick hands produced another converted try for Dover, the final score being a 21 to 7 points win for Dover.
