Dover under 10's entered the Kent festival on Sunday. The Dover under 10's made a sluggish start to the day but improved with every game and finished top of their group beating Sheppey 10 - 0; Aylesford 10 - 5; and drawing against Bexley 5 - 5.
These results put them through to the quarter final of the cup competition where they played against the reigning Kent Champions;- Cranbrook. Dover stepped up the quality of their game and put in a fierce contest but the opposition had slightly more aggressive forwards and their backs timed there passing to great affect allowing the ball to move quickly away from our defence. Cranbrook eventually won 15 - 5. Dover have an excellent squad who show real passion, desire and great potential, players who performed particularly well were Dan Westbrook whose rucking and mauling were superb and totally committed and Ryan Matthews who put in his best ever performance at scrum half linking well with the backs, and Kallum Read made some strong runs in attack and good defence. The backs were also excellent in defence. The squad were;- Keane O Hanlon, Kallum Reed; Thomas Castle; Ben Sturman, Harry Yarnell; Ryan Matthews, Peter Merit, Tom Duncan, Harry Sayers, Alex Moore, Fraser Mcbride, Alex Moore, Dan Eades and Dan Westbrook. Next week Dover minis play Ashford away at 10.00am.
