After losing the toss, Dover kicked off downhill and with the sun, going into the match 13 points behind from the first leg Dover started at high tempo. Good rucking and Mauling from Richard Hayward and Craig May and some strong running from James Morton and Matt Emmerson ensured that Dover retained plenty of Ball within the First half, Dover took the Lead after an early Penalty was kicked by Mike Marsh. Dover scrummaged well against a strong Faversham pack and spent most of the first half camped in Favershams half, but a strong defence from the visitors who held Dover to end the half 3-0 in Dover’s favor.
The Second half saw Faversham start strongly scoring a converted try to put them 3-7 ahead. After some strong Running From Charlie denning and Gregg Hewer, Dover managed to break through the Faversham defense with a well worked try finished by Mike Marsh in the corner; Dover regaining the lead at 8-7. Faversham again put Dover under great pressure but resolute defense managed to keep them at bay. In the last few minutes of the game some crucial decisions from the match official saw the visitors awarded a dubious try, and despite numerous attacks from Dover Faversham held out to finish winners with a final score 8 – 12.
